INDIANAPOLIS — You might see a new face the next time you head to the Indianapolis Zoo!

The Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center has a new primate in its exhibit from the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium.

A female Bornean orangutan, Ember, will increase the total number of inhabitants to 11.

Ember, at 43-year-old, is not just the oldest female orangutan at the Indy Zoo, but also the only female Bornean.

“She shows a lot of confidence & loves to explore her new habitat,” said the Indianapolis Zoo in a social post . “Today, Ember ventured outside into the West Yard of the orangutan center for the very first time. She explored the whole area and even climbed one of the towers of the Hutan Trail!”
