INDIANAPOLIS – A man was lying in bed when he was shot early Friday morning on the near west side.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were dispatched around 1:45 a.m. to the 1100 block of Groff Avenue for a reported shooting.

Police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He told responding officers he’d been lying in bed when he heard gunshots and felt a sting. He soon realized he’d been shot.

“Medics transported the male to the hospital in stable condition,” said Capt. John Arvin with IMPD. “Detectives are on scene, going to be canvassing for door camera video and hopefully any possible witness who may have seen something outside.”

Arvin said at least four other people were in the home at the time.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).
