‘No survivors’ after plane crashes in Anderson

ANDERSON, Ind. — Authorities confirm that there are no survivors after a plane crashed in Anderson that was carrying four people.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, emergency crews responded to the 4300 block of East 100 South on report of a plane crash just before 10 a.m.

At the scene, crews found the flaming wreckage of a plane.

The sheriff’s department confirmed there were “no survivors” after being initially unsure how many people were onboard. An initial flight plan listed four people onboard the plane. The FAA later confirmed that four were aboard the plane at the time of the crash.

The single-engine plane was reportedly told to reroute while attempting to land at the nearby airport due to coming in at too high of an altitude. A witness told authorities the plane was spotted “flipping over” before being seen “nose-diving into a cornfield.”

The plane reportedly flew out of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and is registered to a company.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
