HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — Developers submitted preliminary plans to build more houses along Skeet Club Road.

The plans call for 401 single-family homes and townhomes to be built.

A company out of Kernersville called LeoTerra Development submitted preliminary plans to build the Skybrooke subdivision in High Point.

The plans were submitted on March 14, but some of the work has already begun.

Trees chopped down are making space for the subdivision off of US 74 and Skeet Club Road.

“I feel really great. It’s kind of a comfort that … we won’t be the only one in this area,” homeowner Amandeep Singh said.

Singh lives across the street from the construction.

He moved to Joyce Commons to start a family in his new home. He says he feels safer as more development comes to the area.

The preliminary plans show 401 units to be built on 75 acres of land. 286 are townhomes and, 115 are single-family homes.

Interim Development Services Administrator Samuel Hinnant with the City of High Point says Skeet Club Road is a highly-desired location.

“Skeet Club Road is a very hot area right now because of its access to Winston-Salem, further sites down east as well as going north to Greensboro,” Hinnant said.

The City of High Point’s Technical Review Committee has to approve the preliminary plan.

It will take a couple of months for the approval.

“We’re excited that we are seeing a lot of new growth. I think that we’re also optimistic about the potential for future growth and where that growth can be located,” Hinnant said.

The last step for developers to submit is the street and utility plan. Once that’s approved, construction can start.
