1 pronounced dead in Winston-Salem home on Oak Ridge Court after shooting; homicide investigation underway, police say

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — A homicide investigation is underway in Winston-Salem after a fatal shooting in a home on Oak Ridge Court on Thursday, according to a Winston-Salem Police Department news release.

Around 1 p.m., Winston-Salem officers responded to the 5200 block of Oak Ridge Court when they were told about a reported shooting.

Arriving officers found a person inside the home who had been shot.

EMS and Winston-Salem Fire Department workers arrived and attempted life-saving measures.

The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene, and the WSPD began a homicide investigation.

The next of kin of the victim has not been notified, so their identity will not be released at this time.
