GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A membership-only pool in southwest Greensboro had its license suspended after recently reopening for the first time in years.

The Adams Farm pool, located at 1903 Adams Farm Parkway in Greensboro, opened for the first time in five years after developer Rao Achanta bought the property in 2024 and began renovating. Achanta changed the name of the facility from Adams Farm Swim and Tennis Club to Rao’s Pool Pickle Party.

The facility includes a 300,000-gallon pool with a nearly 90-foot water slide. It was being updated to include mini golf and a sports bar, and the tennis courts were being turned into 12 pickleball courts.

The pool was inspected on June 14, before the site opened on June 15. The county issued a permit despite finding a few violations and giving the facility a demerit score of 22.

The inspection noted that the pool needed to be vacuumed and resurfaced, a “No Diving” marker was cracked, a plate was missing from the bottom of a handrail, the deck had “two large offsets” as well as several cracks and “excessive” chipping, a sign needed to indicate where the ER phone is and equipment and chemicals were stored in a shared room.

The division of public health again inspected the pool on Aug. 21 and suspended the pool’s permit after issuing a demerit score of 36.

“The pool permit was suspended due to safety violations. The Guilford County Division of Public Health is awaiting the pool owner/operator to let us know when repairs have been completed,” the division of public health said in a statement.

According to the inspection report, the pump room was inaccessible, the rules for the pool slide were down, the slide needed to be blocked off and labeled closed when not in use. Additionally, the pool was not maintaining water quality records, multiple skimmer baskets were “full of debris,” a step in the deep end was broken off with a sharp piece exposed, two bottom return covers were missing by the water slide pool, no lifeguard was attending the pool or gate which was not self-closing or self-latching, multiple pool lights were not working, the emergency phone was not working. Carried over from the previous inspection, the inspector noted that the pool needed to be resurfaced and the deck had several cracks and “excessive” chipping.

The pool was directed to call for reinspection once changes were made.
