    North Carolina police searching for suspect in attempted first-degree murder case

    HERTFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — Police are searching for a suspect facing charges of attempted first-degree murder in Ahoskie, police said.

    On Tuesday, the Ahoskie Police Department responded to the 300 block of West Church Street in reference to a shooting.

    When officers arrived on scene, they were met with two victims suffering from injuries. One of the victims was treated at ECU Health Roanoke Chowan Hospital and the other was transferred to Norfolk General.

    Officers are searching for the suspect, identified as Maurice Baum Jr. He is wanted on charges of felony breaking and entering with intent to terrorize, and two counts of attempted first-degree murder. Baum is a 20-year-old man around 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

    He is considered armed and dangerous.
