Medical examiner determines dead woman found entangled in O’Hare baggage machinery died by suicide
CHICAGO (AP) — Authorities say a dead woman found entangled in a baggage conveyor belt at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport died by suicide. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office concluded following an autopsy on Friday that the 57-year-old woman died by asphyxiation from hanging. Firefighters responding to a 911 call found the woman’s body entangled in the belt around 7:45 a.m. Thursday in a baggage room near a terminal that serves international flights. Police say surveillance footage shows the woman enter the area around 2:27 a.m. Thursday, but it doesn’t show what happened to her. Authorities say the room where the woman was found is off limits to the public.
Semi truck driver leads police on chase in Schererville before crashing
A man driving a semi truck led police on a chase through Northwest Indiana before eventually crashing.The incident happened in Schererville, at the start of the evening rush hour. Police said they got a call about a man in a semi threatening another person.Officers found the driver on US-30, but that driver kept going onto Route 41.Eventually, the semi hit stop sticks that police had put down and ran into multiple vehicles, including a police SUV.Video of the aftermath was posted on the Citizen ap.The semi driver is now in the hospital. A police investigation is ongoing.

Crestwood, IL: Police Investigate Multiple Suspicious Incidents Involving Children
Crestwood, IL – The Crestwood Police Department is investigating two suspicious incidents involving children. The first incident occurred on Saturday, sometime before 4:00 p.m., on 137th Street near LaVergne. A female juvenile was walking her dog westbound on 137th Street. As the girl walked past a male Hispanic individual walking eastbound, he turned and grabbed her by the shoulders. The girl escaped and ran to her residence to report the incident.
3 Will County men arrested after police find meth and heroin inside Joliet home
JOLIET, Ill. - Three Will County men were arrested this week after police found drugs inside a Joliet home. Nathaniel Kilburn, 35, of Peotone, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug equipment. Michael Carson, 69, of Joliet, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and 54-year-old Scott Wells, of Joliet, was charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.

Lansing Man Charged With 5 Counts Of Attempted Murder
On 08/04/2024 at 12:28 AM, the Lansing Police Department was dispatched to the 17700 block of Burnham Avenue regarding calls of shots fired. Upon arrival, there were several people located outside and a female adult suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to an extremity, according to Lansing Police. Lansing Fire Department Paramedics treated the victim and transported her to the hospital. Witnesses reported the suspect fled back into a home on the block. Mutual aid was requested through the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) to help secure the area out of an abundance of caution. The South Suburban Emergency Response Team (SSERT) also responded and successfully had the occupants of the home exit where the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The scene was processed by the Illinois State Police.

Domestic Dispute Leads to Gun Arrest
A 33-year-old man is in custody after pointing a handgun at a woman during a domestic dispute. On August 6th at approximately 5:47 pm, Bolingbrook Police responded to a residence on the 400 block of Sioux Drive for a report of a man with a gun. Initial reports indicated a man was having an argument with a woman outside the front of a residence and the man was in possession of a handgun.
Chicago man sentenced to 31 years for Darien home invasion
DARIEN, Ill. - A Chicago man was sentenced to 31 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to breaking into a Darien home and holding a woman at gunpoint in 2019. CHICAGO (CBS) — A Palos Hills man pleaded guilty to charges of illegally shipping firearm parts to Israel in 2022, The U.S. Attorney's Office, Northern District of Illinois, announced on Wednesday. Amin Betuni pleaded guilty on Thursday, Aug. 1, to a federal charge of knowingly and fraudulently exporting the parts in violation of U.S. laws and regulations.
