Change may be a good thing in Franklin, as the football team will have a new coach in Todd Kiley for the first time in almost a decade in 2024.
The Panthers underwent a dramatic transformation over eight years under Eian Bain. Franklin mutated from a traditional ground and pound Hockomock team to a modern spread offense early in his tenure. The Panthers won less than three games in his first two years among growing pains but quickly became a postseason contender, Hockomock champion and Final Four squad.
Bain left Franklin for Bridgewater-Raynham in April, which began the area coaching carousel. Kiley then stepped down after 21 years at his alma mater Holliston to coach a different set of Panthers in Franklin.
The Franklin Panthers finished 5-6 last season. They were 5-3 in the regular season and made the Division 1 tournament before losing a first round game against No. 4 Andover, a non-playoff contest against Natick and their Thanksgiving Rivalry game against King Philip at Fenway Park .
It won't be an easy start to the season for Franklin, which plays its first two games on the road and faces Duxbury and Brockton in its first two home games.
