Woman dies in head-on crash in Franklinville on Whites Memorial Road, troopers say

FRANKLINVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — A woman died in a head-on crash in Franklinville on Thursday, according to a State Highway Patrol news release.

At 2:48 p.m., troopers responded to the report of a crash on Whites Memorial Road near Windy Drive in Randolph County.

A 58-year-old Franklinville man was going south on Whites Memorial Road in a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado truck.

Linda Susan Jester, 72, of Franklinville, was going north in a 2009 Chevrolet HHR. The 58-year-old crossed the center line and hit Jester head-on.

Jester died on-scene.

Investigators are uncertain what caused the 58-year-old to drive outside his lane.

This crash is still under investigation.

Whites Memorial Road near Windy Drive was closed for around two hours during the investigation.

Troopers cleared the scene at 4:59 p.m.
