FREDERICK, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Firework shows seem to be one of the most anticipated parts of celebrating the Fourth of July – but what really goes into making each show safe and unique?

The Frederick Independence Day celebration is all about good times, beginning with a day of activities for everyone in the family

“We have two stages of live entertainment,” Executive Director of Celebrate Frederick, Jennifer Martin, said.” We have almost 30 food vendors out here today and have an entire area for families with amusements for kids.”

A spectacular fireworks show caps things off, but it also comes with precautions for the people who stage the show and those who watch it.

“There’s a fire line that we put up and maintain so that people are safely seated to enjoy the show far enough away,” Martin said.

“Making sure that the equipment that we’re using is of sound, while we make sure that the crew members are properly rested right before the show,” Firework Technician Daniel Harvey added. “They have PPE and different safety gear and equipment that we have to wear.”

Which president died on July 4th? There was more than one.

Once everything is double checked, it’s showtime. Harvey said they added something special this year.

“We’ve also added a soundtrack customer where that soundtrack is currently playing approximately 16 minutes in length,” Harvey said. “It is a good accompaniment with the crescendo at the end.”

No matter where people are, Harvey guarantees a time to remember.

“It is going to be an epic night no matter what display,” Harvey said. “Whether you’re in Middletown, Walkersville or whether you’re here in City of Frederick.”
