A New Plainfield Commercial is on the Way
PLAINFIELD, NJ — At last week's Plainfield City Council meeting, the governing body voted unanimously to approve the production and airing of a new commercial. It will cost $70,000, which will be paid with Urban Enterprise Zone funds, and will hit the television channels as well as digital platforms. "The target [of the commercial] is to bring people into Plainfield, not just to live, of course, but also to eat, to shop, to use our restaurants," said City Business Administrator Abby Levenson of the latest Plainfield commercial, whose production hadn't yet started.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER The commercial will be televised in English only, but might be available in multiple languages digitally, according to Levenson. Police issue warning for public on increased car thefts
Police in Monroe and Washington townships are urging residents to lock their car doors in the wake of an increase in stolen vehicles. “This situation has affected not only Monroe Township, but our surrounding communities,” the police noted in a July 19 social media post. “This is a friendly reminder to always lock your vehicle and absolutely do not leave your key fob inside the vehicle.
Ocean County Man Charged With Killing Roommate
JACKSON – A township man remains behind bars, accused of the stabbing death of his roommate, authorities said. In a joint news release, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Jackson Township Police Chief Matthew Kunz confirmed 38-year-old Louis Gargiso has been charged with Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, in connection with the death of 74-year-old Robert Sunris. The incident took place on July 19.

HILLSIDE — In the latest hot spill lawsuit against Dunkin' in New Jersey, a Union County woman claims she suffered severe and permanent burns on her hand due to negligence. Essence Springer bought a hot mint tea at the Dunkin' drive-thru on Liberty Avenue in Hillside on Dec. 17, 2023, according to the lawsuit filed last week.
Big box store shopping in New Jersey just got smaller
In an ever ugly and sad trend another big box store announced that they are closing a chunk of their stores and trying to reorganize to stay above drowning in debt. National discount retailer Big Lots, with close to 1,400 stores nationally including twenty-seven in Monmouth and Ocean counties here in New Jersey, has announced that they are closing up to forty stores nationally and opening three more. Big Lots closed fifty-two stores in 2023 due to inferior performance.
