Sensory garden helps Everett shelter dogs relieve stress
EVERETT, Wash. — Shelter life is stressful for a dog. The long hours cooped up can have negative impacts both mentally and physically, especially if a dog is there for an extended amount of time. This is Marley's second time at the Everett Animal Shelter. The 18-month-old husky has...
Restaurant news: A tale of two very different Edmonds restaurant experiences
I love that everyone has a favorite restaurant in town to eat — whether you are going out for a special occasion, a weeknight dinner, a date night or just for an evening when you don’t feel like cooking at home. I visited a new Thai spot in the Westgate neighborhood and a Mexican place that has been around for almost three years. It was my first time visiting both restaurants, and I made a point of visiting during the week rather than on the weekend. You may be surprised about which one I preferred. I ordered two drinks, an appetizer, and two entrees at each restaurant. One dinner cost me $83.96 with tip and the other cost me $64.56. The food and service was stellar at one and the other left us scratching our heads as it was so disappointing. I reached out to the CEO/general manager of one of the restaurants for a comment about my experience but I never heard back from her.

Local gardeners celebrate progress of Scriber Creek restoration
Several volunteers from the Scriber Creek restoration project and members of the Edmonds Floretum Garden Club, Lynnwood’s Alderwood Garden Club and Woodinville’s Cottage Gardeners Garden Club gathered in the rain Thursday to witness the fruits of their efforts in planting native plants along Scriber Creek. Since Nov. 4, many of the native seedlings have sprouted to become saplings over a fresh layer of mulch. However, there are still many invasive reed canary grass and English ivy coating the creek bed.
Healthy eating: Scratch Made S’mores a delightful summer treat
There is something about picnics and barbecues that says summertime. We’re lucky to be able to eat outside throughout the year. Our family loves packing a picnic and heading to the beach for supper on a warm evening. I also love to go camping and hiking which means that I enjoy planning meals cooked on an open fire or on a camping stove. I have had a love affair with s’mores from an early age and have memories of this treat from an early age. Camping without s’mores just isn’t camping for me.
