The New York Lottery announced the winning ticket for the June 29 drawing matched four white balls and the red Powerball. NEW YORK -- It has been 35 years since "Do the Right Thing" was released, and Brooklyn came out to celebrate Spike Lee's iconic movie in style. Hundreds of people showed up for a block party Sunday in Bedford-Stuyvesant, complete with live music, street vendors and an appearance from the award-winning director himself. The 1989 movie explored racial tensions in the neighborhood on the hottest day of the summer. Sunday's block party was held right where it was filmed on Do The Right Thing Way, a portion of Stuyvesant Avenue between Lexington and Quincy streets. Giancarlo Esposito from "Do the Right Thing" castVideo posted online shows Lee on stage addressing the crowd, along with some of the cast and crew. Special guests included actor Giancarlo Esposito, editor Barry Brown and rapper Flava Flav. An affordable housing lottery has opened for 125 apartments in a long-in-the-works south Williamsburg development, with units starting at $544 per month. In a rare exception to the city’s housing lottery system, all units included in the Throop Corners lottery could be deemed truly affordable, with the most expensive four-bedroom going for $3,275 a month. According to Streeteasy, market rate apartments of three or more bedrooms in Williamsburg currently average $6,095 a month.

Four Brooklyn High School Students Win Scholarships To Summer Acting Program
The Terry Knickerbocker Studio has awarded scholarships to four students from Brooklyn's Uncommon Charter High School to its Summer Acting Intensive for High School Students. The Studio's programs are typically focused on college-level or older students, including many professionals refining their craft throughout their careers. Yet, in order to engage the next generation of theatre artists, the Studio has added a two-week, intensive, conservatory-style program to enable high school students to hone their acting skills, cultivate their unique voices, and prepare for the future.
