Illegal July 4th fireworks spark house fire in Santa Rosa
Santa Rosa fire crews put out a residential blaze triggered by illegal fireworks on Independence Day, according to fire officials. Shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday, the Santa Rosa Fire Department began receiving multiple reports of a structure fire in the area of Cavendish Avenue and Amador Drive in western Santa Rosa. When crews arrived in the area, they found a fire outside a one-story residential structure. Crews said the flames started in vegetation on the side of the house and then extended to the wooden fence and the side of the house. It then crept to the attic space of the residence. Fire officials said the fire was brought under control within 20 minutes after crews arrived. The sole occupant of the home was able to escape and was uninjured, according to firefighters. "Due to their investigative work, it was determined that the fire had started from illegal use of fireworks in the area. This was one of about a dozen calls related to the illegal use of fireworks in the city," the fire department said.

Yesterday, a routine patrol by Santa Rosa Police led to the arrest of a juvenile carrying a loaded firearm. According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, Special Enforcement Team officers were on duty around 4:58 p.m. when they identified a young individual with an outstanding warrant and known gang affiliations on Cleveland Avenue.

A tragic motorcycle accident has claimed a life on SR-1 near Santa Rosa, according to authorities. The California Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred just north of Bay Hill Road at around 7:30 pm on Monday. A 2021 Yamaha motorcycle, while navigating a curve heading south on SR-1, struck a guardrail, which led to the rider being thrown from the bike. Locals nearby stepped in to assist the victim until emergency responders arrived.

Man Arrested After Starting Small Gras Fire in Santa Rosa with Fireworks
A Santa Rosa man has been arrested for starting a small vegetation fire near homes and a school with fireworks. On Monday afternoon, the fire was reported in the 2000 block of Moraga Drive in southwest Santa Rosa. Firefighters quickly responded and put down the blaze that burned a 2,500-square-foot area of mowed grass. Investigators believe 20-year-old Salvador Castillo Lopez ignited a firework inside a PVC pipe and it launched in an opposite direction than was intended. He was arrested for unlawfully causing a fire and faces up to six months in jail and a fine if charged and then convicted.
Driver wearing ‘Jason’ mask arrested with an assault rifle in his backseat in Northern California
A driver wearing a “Jason”-style mask was arrested Saturday after police pulled him over and found an AR-15-style gun in his backseat, authorities said. Police officers in Santa Rosa, California, stopped the driver of a gold Toyota Camry around 9:40 p.m. for having his headlights or taillights off, according to a news release.
Santa Rosa Man Arrested After High Speed Chase Ends in Crash
A Santa Rosa man is facing charges after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase that ended with a crash. Police say the pursuit began late Sunday night when officers attempted to pull over Jersain Meza for an alleged traffic violation. Meza allegedly refused to pull over and continued onto Highway 101, where he allegedly turned off all his car lights and sped up to 100 miles per hour before crashing into the center divide. Police say he fled the scene on foot, but officers caught up to him and arrested him on several charges.

2:18pm A vehicle was stopped on Lytton Springs Road at Healdsburg Avenue for violating tail-light rules. A 32-Year-Old (YO) man was cited and released for driving with a license suspended for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI), violating probation, lacking proof of insurance and on outstanding Sonoma County warrants regarding driving with a license suspended for DUI, speeding, DUI and misdemeanor hit and run.
Toll Fire Near Calistoga Now 20-Percent Contained at 40-Acres
Crews are making progress containing a large brush fire that prompted evacuation orders and warnings near Calistoga. Cal Fire says the Toll Fire is now 20-percent contained after igniting yesterday morning. Officials say firefighters have managed to stop forward progress of the blaze, which now stands at just over 40 acres. Overnight there were about 80 fire personnel working the fire. The initial evacuation order and warning zones impacted over a hundred people. The Napa County Sheriff’s Office currently has evacuation warnings for zones E103 and E113. Residents are advised to visit readynapacounty.org for evacuation instructions.
