Fremont PD investigate fatal shooting, residents advised to avoid the area

( KRON ) — The Fremont Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the area of Blaisdell Way and Nichols Avenue. The shooting occurred Saturday afternoon, and police advised residents to avoid the area for several hours.

Police received multiple calls from residents about the shooting. Officers said they arrived at the scene just before 1:30 p.m. and located a man suffering from gunshot wounds.

Despite responding officers’ life-saving efforts, the man who was shot was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fremont PD said the area remained an active crime scene and that residents were asked to avoid the area “for several hours.”

Footage taken by KRON4 at the scene shows multiple police vehicles and several cars being towed away from the area.

“At this time, there is no known, active threat in the community… We plan to provide an update on the investigation as more information becomes available,” police said.
