    West State Street, probably 1912

Taken from near the foot of the State Street Bridge, this bleak photograph looks west toward the intersection of Front Street.  The ice floes, a large pack of floating ice, are probably from the receding high water of the 1912 flood. The Hotel Fremont can be seen at the right behind the railroad crossing tower.
