    IDENTIFIED: Teenage girl who died after drowning in Fresno pool

    FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – The teenage girl who died after drowning in a Fresno pool last week has been identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.

    Firefighters said on July 3, they received a call regarding a possible drowning at a Fresno home. Officials say that two girls were pulled from the pool and taken to the hospital. One of the girls has since passed away but the other continues to recover in the hospital.

    The girl who died was identified on Monday by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as 14-year-old Mia Gonzalez Saltos from Ivanhoe in Tulare County. Officials from the Coroner’s Office say that the teen’s 12-year-old sister was also removed from the pool and she remains hospitalized.

    The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.

    The Fresno Fire Department originally stated that the girl who died was 15 years old and the other girl was 14 years old.
