Update: Man killed in double shooting ID’d by Fresno police. Woman in stable condition

A man was killed and a woman was injured in a double shooting Thursday night in Fresno.

Police said two gunshots were detected around 10:30 p.m. in a neighborhood near Cedar and Woodward avenues.

Officers arrived and found a man who had been shot in the head and a woman who was shot in the leg. Homicide detectives learned both had been in a vehicle at the time.

The man — identified Friday by police as 21-year-old Darius Lopez — was was taken to a hospital where he died later, police said.

The woman, 19, was in stable condition, police said in an update.

Police did not have a suspect description.

“At this time, the motive for the shooting has not been determined, and detectives are canvassing the nearby area for witnesses and surveillance footage,” Lt. Bill Dooley said. “Detectives are asking anyone with information to please call the Fresno Police Department.”
