Annual Fourth of July parade held in Friedens
People gathered at the old IXL Creamery in Friedens in Somerset County Thursday morning to hold their annual parade. The tradition began in 1944 when a group of women whose husbands were fighting in the war wanted to get together to do something patriotic, and had their children decorate bikes and wagons to hold a parade.
