High-Speed Chase in Franklin County Ends in Crash; Suspect Still at Large
A motorcyclist led State Police on a high-speed chase in Franklin County on a stolen bike, resulting in a crash and the motorcyclist escaping, according to filed charges. Allen Keesey, 43, of Chester County, faces felony charges for receiving stolen property, theft by unlawful taking, flight to avoid apprehension, and fleeing or attempting to elude an officer. He also faces a misdemeanor for recklessly endangering another person and multiple traffic violations.

More than three years ago, former Pitt basketball player Gilbert Brown joined the Pitt basketball staff as the Director of Player and Alumni Development. Previously coaching at South Kent School, a prep program in Connecticut, Brown joined the Panthers’ staff in a role added by Jeff Capel prior to that 2021-22 campaign.
U.S. Steel testing emergency evacuation system at Clairton plant on Saturday
CLAIRTON, Pa. (KDKA) -- U.S. Steel will be conducting emergency tests at its Clairton plant on Saturday.The company will test emergency system equipment from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 27. U.S. Steel says the annual test makes sure the plant's emergency system is working so employees and surrounding communities can be protected in case of an actual emergency. The test will begin with a simulated emergency and evacuation, using sirens, lights and loudspeakers that U.S. Steel says will be heard in nearby communities. The plant's emergency systems will be activated one at a time, and the company says there are five distinct areas that will be tested, taking up to seven hours. Local government and emergency agencies, including fire, police and Allegheny County 911, have been notified, U.S. Steel says. U.S Steel's Clairton plant is located on 400 State Street in the Mon Valley along the Monongahela River.

Central Pa. bank is closing 19 branches
Lancaster-based Fulton Bank is closing more than a dozen branches. Fulton Bank plans to close 13 of its branches and consolidate the operations of those offices into Fulton Bank branches nearby. On average, there is another financial center within about 1.5 miles of the locations that are closing, according to a bank spokesperson.

The scene of a demolished building that housed fitness centers is proposed as the site for a new store. Bethel Park Council approved the preliminary/final plan for Floor & Décor, to be located at 3000 Oxford Drive, where there previously was an LA Fitness and before that, Bally’s.

The Cambridge Springs Fireman’s Carnival is back for its 70th year to support operating expenses for the organization. “It’s our largest fundraiser, so it goes for equipment upgrades, training, repairs and all kinds of things. Superior Court reverses judge's bail denial in Sewickley torture case
Three months after an Allegheny County judge denied bail to a suspect accused of torturing a man in Sewickley, an appeals court ruled that he must be granted bail. Pennsylvania law says that every criminal defendant is entitled to bail unless they face a potential life prison term or there is no combination of bail conditions that could ensure the safety of the community.
Pirates designate LHP for assignment again as part of shuffle
The Pirates announced that infielder/outfielder Ji Hwan Bae has been recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis and right-hander Hunter Stratton has been reinstated from the 15-day injured list.
