Hometown Maine: Take a look at the art inside the old Waldoboro button factory
WALDOBORO, Maine — For anyone driving by, this old button factory might as well be abandoned. Though the exterior might not be as cute as a button, the inside is where the real treasure is. For this week's Hometown Maine, Jacob Murphy takes us to Waldoboro, taking a look at how Bobo Hachmeister has transformed the space.

Save the embarrassment and double-check those reservations
Last weekend I made a whopper when clicking for an online reservation. My husband and I were meeting friends for dinner at the Water Street Kitchen and Bar in Wiscasset, Maine. I said I'd make reservations. I Googled the restaurant on my phone. It popped right up, or so I thought. I reserved a table for four at 6 p.m. I was sort of shocked that all times between 5 and 7 p.m. were available, but figured that it being a week ahead was the reason.

The mesmerizing art of David Dupree
When I first saw David Dupree’s colorful, detailed paintings at Studio 53, I was blown away. The energy produced by the techniques this self-taught artist used including pointillism (painting small dots and/or brush strokes) and impasto (created with a thick application of paint and a palette knife to create texture and a fabulous 3-D effect). David’s use of brilliant color paired with the techniques created paintings you can look into for hours. I particularly like using a magnifying glass (strange, I know ... I got one for a Halloween party decades ago when I went as Inspector Clouseau) or, better still, looking at his, or any, paintings on a computer, zooming in and out as you move around the canvas. Either approach enhances the experience of whatever occupation, wildlife, garden scene, etc. is depicted.
Student and teacher reunite to hold “Sing Your Heart Out!” summer camp
In 2007, Allysa Anderson, the middle school music teacher at Camden-Rockport Middle School (CRMS), placed a guitar in the hands of sixth-grader Alice Limoges for the first time. That moment sparked a musical journey for Alice, a Rockport native, leading her to a vibrant career in music. After graduating from CHRHS, Alice spent seven years in New York City, where she studied, taught, and performed music, eventually becoming a private music instructor. Since then, Alice has performed on a Grammy Award-winning album, released five albums of her own, received honors in the International Songwriting Competition, and toured extensively from Washington, DC, to Montreal.
