BETTERTON — Residents may resume normal beach activities including swimming, watersports, and fishing. According to the Kent County Health Department results from the latest samples at Betterton Beach are at an acceptable level for bathing. As of 5 p.m., July 18, the beach was re-opened to the public. Around noon on Wednesday, the Health Department shut down Betterton Beach due to a sewage leak from one of the pump stations. ...
Cambridge Mayor Steve Rideout on Search for City Manager
The Cambridge City Council conducted interviews on July 15 for the vacant city manager position. The closed session was held at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay and was, in the words of Mayor Steve Rideout, “an interesting meeting.” This was necessitated by the departure in May of City Manager Tom Carroll, whose position has been held on a temporary basis by David Deutsch.
State Police Detectives Arrest Lewes Man for Multiple Felony Thefts
Delaware State Police arrested 31-year-old William Rodenbaugh of Lewes, Delaware, for multiple felony thefts from vehicles that occurred over the last week in the Lewes area. Between July 8, 2024, and July 17, 2024, troopers investigated multiple thefts and trespassing of a similar nature in Angola and Lewes area. In each of the incidents, a white male suspect trespassed onto residential properties, where he went through unsecured vehicles and stole money and property. Detectives identified the suspect responsible for the thefts as William Rodenbaugh and obtained warrants for his arrest. Detectives were familiar with Rodenbaugh as part of an ongoing investigation of thefts and attempted thefts from vehicles in the Lewes area.

BALTIMORE, MD—The FBI and local law enforcement partners are investigating a surge of armed robberies, known as “jugging” crimes, at financial institutions in Maryland. At least 21 bank and ATM customers have been victimized by these crimes just in the first week of July.
