Fan Choice Awards: Here's who won Gadsden Times Fan Votes, including athletes of the year

High school sports fans across the Gadsden area made their votes and selected the Gadsden Times Fan Choice players of the year in individual spring sports, as well as individual and team awards for the 2023-24 season .

The Fan Choice winners are separate from the Gadsden Times All-Area players of the year, but both awards are significant and worthy distinctions. The Fan Choice awards were done by polls over the last month, following the completion of the spring sports season.

Here's who won the Gadsden Times Fan Choice awards.

Gadsden Times Fan Choice for Boys Athlete of the Year: Carson Gillilan, Sardis

The Gadsden Times All-Area Baseball Player of the Year controlled the poll from the beginning after a stellar year, in which he helped led the Lions to the quarterfinals. He hit .440 on the year with 32 RBIs and he scored 29 runs. He was also a member of the Lions basketball team that made the Sweet 16.

Gadsden Times Fan Choice for Girls Athlete of the Year: Kathryn Webb, Southside

Webb was one of the top track and field athletes in Etowah County, competing in the jump events. She won the high jump at the county track meet. She made the state meet in long jump and triple jump.

Gadsden Times Fan Choice for Boys Team of the Year: Gaston Basketball

The Bulldogs made the first Elite Eight in program history, while jumping to 24 wins after a three-win campaign three seasons ago. Not only did the Bulldogs revitalize the program on the court, they helped bring back fan support and rallied a community through sports.

Gadsden Times Fan Choice for Girls Team of the Year: Southside Soccer

The Panthers were strong all year long, ending the year with more than 20 wins and an Elite Eight playoff run.

Softball: Bella Owens, Etowah

Baseball: Tray Gaddis, Etowah

Girls Soccer : Maddy Sprinkle, Southside

Boys Soccer: Ethan Daffron, Westbrook Christian

Girls Tennis: Ava Nicholson, Etowah

Boys track and field: LJ Mostella, Coosa Christian

Girls track and field: Je'Vonnah Sears, Gadsden City

Golf : Jayce Hutchens, Susan Moore
