The Alabama High School football season is quickly approaching and there are plenty of top running backs around the Gadsden area .
The group is senior dominated with 12 of the top 15 being seniors but the three underclassmen have shown the ability to already excel. There are plenty of familiar faces with Gadsden Times all-area selections from last year, making the list including Logan Anderson, TJ Worthy and Aiden Parham.
The AHSAA season starts officially on Aug. 22, but most team will start the day after or the next week.

Here's the Gadsden Time's ranking of the area's best RBs, from 15 to 1:
Best Alabama high school football RB in Gadsden area for 2024
15. Keyshawn Woods
Cherokee County High School
Vitals: 5-10, 180, Soph.
Woods was the backup to Jacob Cornejo in 2023, but still shined enough when he got snaps. He made the all-region team as a backup, showing how talented he can be. The one knock is that the Warriors may take a committee approach in 2024, limiting Woods carries.
14. Kanon Wilson
Coosa Christian School
Vitals: 5-10, 165, Sr.
Wilson woke up late in the season for the Conquerors and ended the year with 213 yards and three touchdowns.
13. Presley Fant
Boaz High School
Vitals: 5-10, 165, Sr.
Another secondary back makes the list, and it highlights how deep Boaz is at the running back position. Fant ran for 440 yards and four touchdowns, but coach Jeremy Sullivan likes to also use him in the passing game with 204 receiving yards and a score.
12. Kane Robison
Sand Rock High School
Vitals: Sr.
Robison played six games at running back, rushing for 600 yards. He will look to take another step this year with a full season of running back work.
11. Julyon Jordan
Guntersville High School
Vitals: 5-10, 185, Sr.
Jordan missed most of the 2023 season with injury, but still ran for 559 yards and seven touchdowns. He added 12 catches for 119 yards. This is one player that could shoot up the list, depending on how the Wildcats split the carries this year.
10. Drew Justice
Susan Moore High School
Vitals: 5-10, 180, Sr.
Justice only played in six games for the Bulldogs, but made the most of them with 693 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.
9. Nate Oliver
Gaston High School
Vitals: 6-0, 215, Sr.
Oliver started the 2023 season on a heater, averaging about 100 yards a game before slowing down in the final four contests of the year. This year, he expects to keep the consistency throughout the year.
8. Ryder Gipson
Fyffe High School
Vitals: 5-10, 185, Soph.
One thing that hurts Gipson from being higher on the list is that he is Logan Anderson's backup, but he still crossed the 1,200-yard mark in 2023 with 18 touchdowns on the year. He might take more carries in 2024, but Fyffe will still be the Anderson-show.
7. Aaron Mann
Glencoe High School
Vitals: 5-10, 165, Sr.
Mann will be looking to lead Glencoe to a turnaround kind of season this year after they have struggled the last few years. Last year, he ran for 1,056 yards and 12 touchdowns in just 10 games.
6. Quintavious Rogers
Collinsville High School
Vitals: 6-0, 165, Jr.
Rogers was one of the breakout stars in the Gadsden area last year, he ran for 1,093 yards and 19 touchdowns. He is a receiving threat, as well, with 309 yards and four touchdowns as a pass catcher.
5. Tristan Childers
Boaz High School
Vitals: 5-9, 210, Sr.
Childers was one of the top backs last year, shining for Boaz with 1,318 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground. He looks to lead a strong backfield for the Pirates and go deeper than they have in the Class 5A playoffs.
4. Enelson Delva
Guntersville High School
Vitals: 5-11, 175, Sr.
Delva stepped into the starting spotlight for the Wildcats due to injury to Julyon Jordan in 2023, he took full advantage with 1,474 yards and 16 scores. The big question for Delva, and Jordan is how the carries will be split, especially with Guntersville having a strong passing attack as well.
3. TJ Worthy
Gadsden City High School
Vitals: 5-11, 190, Sr.
Worthy is a big play waiting to happen after a 1,301 yard season with 24 touchdowns. He is a threat outside the backfield too, with 430 receiving yards and six more scores.
2. Aiden Parham
Sylvania High School
Vitals: 5-11, 185, Sr.
Parham ran for 2,532 yards last year with 28 touchdowns, without losing a fumble all year. He helped the Rams get to the third round of the AHSAA playoffs.
1. Logan Anderson
Fyffe High School
Vitals: 6-3, 215, Sr.
Collegiate offers: Auburn
The far and away top back in the Gadsden area, Anderson led the Red Devils to the state title game in 2023 with 2,865 yards rushing and 45 touchdowns. He is closing in on a few school and state records with a big year ahead in 2024.
