Pressure has followed Pierce Montes all his life.

First, his father is a lacrosse coach.

Second was playing for a program like Oak Hall, the best in the Gainesville area.

Third was living up to last season. In 2022, Montes ranked in the top 5 in Florida in points and assists.

As such, there remained questions if the pressure would weigh down the Eagles junior.

    No way.

Montes once again ranked in the top 6 in points and assists as OH got within one game of the Class 1A State Semifinals.

Now, Montes is the Sun's All-Gainesville Area Boys Lacrosse Player of the Year.

Earlier in the season, Montes became Oak Hall's all-time points leader. He is committed to High Point University in North Carolina, but he still has one season left in the burgundy and gold.

Below is the full Boys Lacrosse team , consisting of 20 athletes from five local schools.

Congrats to all, and be sure to check out the girls lacrosse team as well!

Coach of the Year: Jonathan Montes, Oak Hall

Montes continued the dynasty that is Oak Hall's boys lacrosse program and nearly brought it to new heights in 2024. The Eagles went 17-4 and won districts. They stormed through the Class 1A-Region 1 quarterfinals and semifinals before a tight, one-goal loss to Bolles. With his son, Pierce, back next season, expectations remain high once again on Gainesville's west side.
