Naeshaun Montgomery sees the potential for the Florida Gators to have a formidable receivers room in the coming years.

“If I end up going there, you’d have ( Joshua Moore ) outside, I’m outside and possibly ( Vernell Brown III ) at the slot,” Montgomery said. “It would be hectic in The Swamp.”

Montgomery, a 4-star prospect, is the No. 34 receiver in the country for the On3 Industry Rankings. Florida is thought to be a top contender. Montgomery plans to reveal a top six soon and likely will announce a commitment in August.

Next week, Montgomery is visiting the Gators at least once and probably twice. He’s going to Florida’s recruiting cookout July 27. But, it’s also likely he’ll be in town two days earlier with his father, he said. The latter trip “isn’t planned yet but it’s in the works,” Montgomery told Gators Online. “I’ll probably go (July 25) — just me and my dad. Then come back (July 27) with my family.”

The Gators are a top school for Naeshaun Montgomery

Florida, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine favorite, will make Montgomery’s top six. Penn State will, too. He officially visited both schools in June.

“Out of all of them, there’s like two (recruiting him hardest),” Montgomery said. “I’d probably say Florida and Penn State. But the others are all really rallying. I talk to (the Gators) like five times a day. I really talk to everybody but (receivers coach Billy Gonzales ) the most. I think he’s a really good guy off the field and the same way on the field. I really like him.”

According to Montgomery, Moore, who committed to Florida in June, has spoken to Montgomery about following him to Gainesville.

“He said we can definitely team up and bring back Florida,” Montgomery said. “It means a lot. I’ve met him a few times before. He’s a really talented receiver and if we play together we could definitely take over the SEC.”

What does Montgomery hope to experience next week in Gainesville? “I’ve already seen everything,” he said. “So it’s a time to just chill with the coaches and the players.”

Freshman quarterback DJ Lagway is one player with whom Montgomery wants to spend more time.

“We talk here and there,” Montgomery said. “Really, if that’s the place for me, then I’ve got to get close to the guy that’s throwing me the ball. That’s a really big thing.”
