Greg McElroy Makes Major Prediction On Florida's 2024 Win Total

The Florida Gators are still looking for their first winning record under head coach Billy Napier. The two-time Sun Belt Coach of the Year finished 6-7 in 2022 and 5-7 in 2023.

On the latest episode of "Always College Football," Greg McElroy made a bold prediction about Florida in 2024. Despite the over/under win total for Florida being set at four and a half this season, McElroy thinks seven wins are more likely.

One of the main reasons McElroy made his claim was the younger players on offense and defense who got playing time last season.

"...How about we talk about what they have on their roster? Their roster is really good. There are good pieces that are not there, but there are also young pieces that played a lot and had a ton of growing pains in the last couple of years that are now poised to take over a role in their defense or offense, and they should be much better as a result," McElroy said. "...If you were to tell me what's more likely, Florida wins seven or four, I'd take seven."

Players like receiver Eugene Wilson III, tight end Arlis Boardingham, safety Jordan Castell, and linebacker Shemar James saw extended time in 2023. McElroy believes that because of their playing time, they will be better off down the line.

The Gators have now added recruits from the 2024 class to their roster. Former five-star quarterback DJ Lagway and former five-star defensive lineman LJ McCray highlight their class.

Florida has also received transfer commitments from former Arizona State Sun Devils receiver Elijhah Badger, former Colorado Buffaloes corner Cormani McClain, former USC Trojans offensive lineman Jason Zandamela, and others.

Florida opens the 2024 season against the Miami Hurricanes on Aug. 31.
