Bagels & Co. , a fast-growing bagel chain in Florida and Pennsylvania, is preparing to open a new location in Gainesville at 1111 W University Avenue, Retail 1 .

The Philadelphia-based company announced last year that it would launch an extensive expansion plan to open 20 locations throughout Pennsylvania and Florida. Glu Hospitality partnered with business partner Mike Marsh , who grew up in Fort Lauderdale, to expand the brand into these markets. Earlier this year, the company opened a new location in Wilton Manors, marking Bagels & Co.’s second Broward County location. Now, the company appears to be working on a new site in Gainesville.

“Our initial expansion will be in Florida and Pennsylvania, which we believe offers incredible growth opportunities for the Bagels & Co. brand,” Derek Gibbons , Partner and COO of Glu Hospitality, said in a press release last year. “Our future plans call for expanding beyond that to several states and eventually a national rollout. We appeal to a wide audience.”

The company recently submitted a plan review application to the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation to open a new location on the ground floor of Hub On Campus Gainesville – University, a student housing center near the University of Florida. There’s no timeline for this opening, but this will be the closest location to Northeast Florida, with most of the company’s Florida sites found in South Florida.

“Using traditional methods and high-quality ingredients, Bagels & Co. has perfected the art of bagel-making to bring our customers the perfect bite every time,” according to the company’s website. “With a wide range of Classic flavors to choose from, such as Plain, Sesame, Poppyseed, and Everything, as well as Specialty options like Rainbow, French Toast, and Cheddar Habanero, there is something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for a quick breakfast on-the-go or a made-to-order sandwich for lunch, we’ve got you covered with fresh, delicious bagels and housemade cream cheeses.”
