Heading into the 2024 college football season, it appears that two SEC coaches are coaching for their jobs: Billy Napier of the Florida Gators and Sam Pittman of the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Both schools are coming off losing seasons. Florida went 5-7, and Arkansas went 4-8. However, this offseason, there seems to be more uncertainty surrounding the Gators. On one hand, media members acknowledge that the Gators have one of the toughest schedules in the country, but on the other hand, some feel that the Gators could surprise some people.

However, ESPN's Paul Finebaum believes that anything spectacular happening at Florida this season is too big of a leap.

"It's a pretty big leap to think anything spectacular is going to happen," Finebaum said.

Finebaum believes predicting Florida will win seven or eight games in 2024 would be challenging. He emphasizes that the first game's outcome against the Miami Hurricanes could significantly impact the season. According to Finebaum, a loss to Miami could cause Florida's season to spiral out of control.

However, Finebaum believes that if the Gators win, they may enter their game against Tennessee with a 5-0 record. Therefore, one game could decide whether this is Napier's last season in Gainesville or if the Gators can turn their season around, and he can save his job.
