No school has hosted J’Zavien Currence more than South Carolina. The Rock Hill (S.C.) South Pointe star has traveled to Columbia at least seven times, but Florida is right behind the Gamecocks with six visits.

As expected, those SEC programs hold the early advantage in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine .

According to the On3 Industry Ranking , a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound Currence is the No. 97 prospect and No. 10 safety in the 2026 class.

“I would said yeah. It’s them two, Florida State and Virginia Tech (out front),” Currence told Gators Online. “I’m going to try to wait it out to see what it’s about. It’s not really a time thing for me. I could commit in two weeks or right before my senior year.”

Florida is days removed from hosting J’Zavien Currence

This past weekend, numerous top Florida Gators targets were in Gainesville for the Grill in the ‘Ville cookout, with one being Currence. GO first reported his plans a few weeks prior.

“I enjoyed competing in the mini games with the coaches and other prospects,” Currence said. “We got to know the new DB coaches better. I’m on the phone with them almost every day of the week, but seeing them in person is different. I got the same vibe and energy in person they were giving me on the phone, if not more.”

As you would expect, secondary coaches Will Harris and Beyah Rasool are tasked with recruiting the 4-star prospect on a weekly basis. Billy Napier gets involved from time to time too, but the majority of those conversations take place when Currence is on campus.

“High-energy guys and younger guys,” Currence said of Harris and Rasool. “You could say they are hands on. I like hands-on coaching. I saw a video and coach Harris was literally letting the guys tackle him. You can’t get more hands on than that (laughter).”

Another trip to the Swamp is on the calendar

Luckily for both parties, they will be reconnecting again in the near future. That’s because Currence already has plans to attend the Gators’ season opener on Aug. 31.

“It’s the people. It’s nothing but love every time I go there,” Currence said of Florida.

Additional offers include Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USC, Oregon, LSU and nearly 40 others. Currence has one of the stronger offer sheets for next cycle.
