A Galion man was sentenced to a minimum of five years in prison after pleading guilty to two felony charges in Crawford County Common Pleas Court.

During a change of plea hearing June 26, Evan G. Holloway, 23, pleaded guilty to one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony, and one count of strangulation, a third-degree felony. He was sentenced to a minimum of five years and a maximum of 7 1/2 years in prison on the assault charge and three years on the strangulation charge, according to court records.

The sentences are to be served concurrently for a total of 5-7 1/2 years in prison. He also was ordered to pay court costs associated with his case.

As part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, three other charges, domestic violence and two other felonious assault charges, were dismissed.

Holloway was arrested in the 1200 block of McClure Street on May 19 by Galion Police officers after they received a report of a domestic dispute and stabbing.

Holloway, who was represented by Bucyrus attorney Andrew Motter, will receive credit for 38 days he served in jail while awaiting the outcome of the case.
