NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A New Jersey woman was arrested on Wednesday after police discovered multiple neglected animals in her home and a few dead ones in her freezer, according to prosecutors.

The Galloway Township Police Department Humane Law Enforcement Officers executed a search warrant on Monday after receiving reports of numerous animals living in inhumane conditions at the residence of Nancy Santos, 57, on Cresson Avenue in Galloway.

During the search, police rescued seven dogs and 29 cats. They also found two deceased adult dogs, one deceased adult cat, and four deceased kittens inside a freezer at the residence.

“The Galloway Township Police Department remains committed to investigating any report of animal cruelty in our community”, Chief Richard D. Barber said.  “To honor this commitment, we recently trained two additional officers to serve in our HLEO Unit.”

Santos was placed in custody and charged with 43 counts of animal neglect. She was taken to  Atlantic County Justice Facility and is pending a future court date.
