Oelwein man killed in rural intersection crash near Hazleton
HAZLETON, Iowa — Authorities say tall corn and no seat belt both may have played a role in a deadly crash near Hazleton Saturday afternoon. First responders were called to the intersection of 130th Street and Indiana Avenue just before 12:30pm Saturday. Investigators say two cars entered the uncontrolled intersection at the same time. Authorities believe both drivers were unable to see the other before it was too late because of the height of the corn. 19-year-old Connor Jorgensen of Oelwein was driving one of the cars. He went into the ditch, rolling over and coming to a stop upside down. Jorgensen suffered minor injuries.
