GARDENDALE, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- Family and friends have rallied around the Garcia family, of Odessa, following a deadly crash last week that left one person dead and several other injured. Now, family and friends have asked for continued support and prayers as the family faces another loss in connection with that crash.

“As you are aware Johnny and Angie’s son, Argen passed away in a tragic vehicle accident on Tuesday. It’s with great sadness I share that another one of their sons has succumbed to their injuries and passed away today,” a Gofundme announced Sunday.

While authorities investigating the crash have not confirmed the death, loved ones said Axell Garcia, who has been on life-support since the crash, died as a result of his injuries on June 30.

“Their only surviving son is showing improvement,” the fundraiser continued. “Angie has endured multiple surgeries to repair multiple broken bones and is stable. This family’s struggle is just beginning. Angie and Aceyn are looking at months of rehab not to mention the grief they will endure. Please continue to pray for them and all those close to them.”

    Original crash report:

According to a crash report, around 1:15 p.m. on June 25, troopers responded to the intersection of FM 554 and Cottonwood Road to investigate a two-vehicle crash. Investigators said  the driver of a Chevrolet truck was traveling west on Cottonwood Road toward the intersection of FM 554 and Cottonwood Road while the driver of a GMC Acadia was traveling north on FM 554 towards the same intersection; troopers said the driver of the GMC, 61-year-old Elizabeth Lucille Ertel, of Andrews, proceeded through the intersection and was struck when the driver of the Chevrolet truck, identified as Ashley Danielle Hillin, of Midland, failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign. Both vehicles came to rest on the northwest corner of the intersection in a field.

Both drivers were treated for injuries; family of the driver of the GMC said Ertel is being treated for “serious” injuries and troopers said a little boy from Odessa, Argen Garcia, 11, was killed as a result of the crash. Additionally, several GMC passengers were injured, two other little boys were taken to the hospital for treatment of “serious injuries”, as was 41-year-old Angela Nicole Garcia, of Gardendale.
