ATV crash near Garretson kills 16-year-old

Authorities say a 16-year-old girl was killed Sunday evening after an ATV crash near Garretson.

The crash also left a 30-year-old man with life-threatening injuries.

A release from the South Dakota Highway Patrol stated the ATV was traveling north at 7:04 p.m. on 487th Avenue when it lost control and entered a ditch near 253rd Street, rolling and ejecting both occupants.

The release said who was driving remains under investigation, and that the names of the victims are not being released pending the notification of family members.
