MADISON, Wis. -- A 37-year-old man wanted in an attempted homicide case has been arrested.

Jerome L. Jacobs was arrested in Gary, Indiana on Tuesday with the assistance of U.S. Marshals.

It is unclear when Jacobs will be extradited to Madison.

The alleged drive-by occurred on June 9 in the area of Trafalager Place and Andrew Way around 10:46 p.m.

Police said callers heard as many as 20 shots were heard. Two people were injured as a result of the shooting.

Jacobs was the subject of a June shelter-in-place incident in Eau Claire. Police attempted a traffic stop and Jacobs allegedly fled on foot to a nearby wooded area.

Jacobs eluded an extensive search effort by allegedly meeting a woman who hid him in her truck and drove away from the scene. That woman, 54-year-old Candace Rogers, faces a felony charge of harboring or aiding a felon. She's currently out on a $1,000 signature bond and awaiting a hearing on August 1.
