More than 37 horses seized last summer from Dr. Jennafer Glaesemann's veterinary clinics in Gage County will be auctioned this week, according to court documents.

The horses have been in the care of Epona Horse Rescue for the past six months.

The rescue has raised over $50,000 to try and buy the animals at auction.

"We wish to thank the volunteers who helped care for the horses," Gage County Attorney Roger Harris said. "And we realize not everyone will agree with the decisions that have been made.

"Hopefully, they will realize that it was a difficult decision based upon the investigation reports we had, a decision that was required by professional prosecutorial ethics and one which was not based upon social media or personal agendas."

The auction, originally scheduled for March 2nd, was postponed until March 12 due to paperwork issues.

Dr. Glaesemann, who initially faced 37 counts of animal neglect, has reached an agreement to relinquish ownership of the horses in exchange for avoiding criminal charges.

Lin Guyton, owner of Epona Horse Rescue, expressed disappointment with the outcome.

"I've probably got 15 or 20 of these animals already heading for good homes if we can get custody of them," said Guyton on 10/11 NOW News.

While Glaesemann is prohibited from owning horses in Gage County until August 2025, Guyton fears she could still attempt to purchase the animals at auction and relocate them outside the county.

The auction will be held at the Palmyra Sale Barn.

The hearing for the case is still set for March 18.
