Donna's Jamaican and Caribbean Restaurant, a popular Plantation eatery known for its lively atmosphere and authentic Caribbean dishes, recently faced a follow-up inspection by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation.

A routine inspection was conducted on August 2, 2024, which resulted in seven violations, including four high-priority infractions.

The Broward County restaurant received an administrative complaint recommendation and was required to undergo a follow-up inspection. Despite the violations, the establishment wasn't temporarily closed.

What Happened During The Violations: High-priority violations included live, small flying insects in the restroom area, and temperature control issues with several food items.

The inspector also issued a stop sale on time/temperature control for safety foods due to incorrect temperature settings. Gungo peas, cow foot, and tripe were found at temperatures above the safe 41°F threshold.

Intermediate violations involved wrong date marking of ready-to-eat foods. On the basic level, equipment and utensils weren't properly air-dried, and the equipment used for wiping cloths wasn't at the correct level. On the bright side, some violations were corrected on-site.

Meanwhile, a follow-up inspection on August 3, 2024, showed improvement, with only two remaining violations. However, the presence of small flying insects persisted.

Joel L, a recent customer, shared on Google Reviews:

"I couldn't tell you about the food. The service was so bad (rude) that my party and the party behind us just walked out."

The Broward County restaurant remains open for business and continues to serve its loyal customers. It has a rating of 3.6 stars from 512 customers on Google reviews.

For Broward County diners, it's worth noting that health inspections help maintain food safety standards. While violations are notable, Donna's prompt actions to address issues demonstrate a commitment to improvement.

As always, locals should stay updated on their favorite eateries' inspection results.

NOTE: Please note that an inspection report, per the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation, provides a snapshot of the conditions observed during the inspection.
