Wok 'N Roll, a Chinese restaurant located at 1345 W Granada Blvd #8, was issued a warning and required a follow-up inspection after a recent inspection discovered violations that state inspectors considered unacceptable.

The Volusia County, Florida, eatery, which holds a 3.7-star rating from 246 Google reviews, was issued a warning on August 1, 2024, following a routine inspection by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation that uncovered 26 violations.

These violations required a follow-up inspection, which took place on August 2, 2024, and, despite finding 20 violations, the restaurant met the inspection standards and was allowed to resume service.

The initial inspection on August 1, identified several high-priority violations.

These included the wrong storage of raw animal foods, with raw chicken stored over unwashed tomatoes and raw beef, as well as time/temperature control issues where raw chicken, beef, vegetables, and chopped pork were held at wrong temperatures.

Nonfood-grade bags and containers were used for storing chicken wings, rice, and sugar, posing additional health risks. Medicine was also wrongly stored, though this was corrected on-site.

Intermediate violations noted during the inspection included soiled food-contact surfaces, a handwash sink blocked by a cardboard box, and wrong date marking of cooked pork held for more than 24 hours. Records for required employee training were incomplete but corrected on-site.

Basic violations were numerous, ranging from the use of a bowl without a handle to dispense sugar, buildup of food debris on equipment, and the use of cardboard to line food-contact shelves.

Other issues included clean utensils stored in dirty containers, rusted equipment, soiled floors, and food stored directly on the floor.

Some customers expressed concerns about food quality and cleanliness.

Bryant Decoteau, local guide, shared on Google Reviews:

"Place is dirty pile of boxes in corner got my lunch wich went up 2$ meat was over cooked hard, no veggies in fried rice or pork or anything just rice. Atleast put what’s supposed to be in there in."

NOTE: Please note that an inspection report, per the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation, provides a snapshot of the conditions observed during the inspection.
