Grandpa's Diner in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, recently underwent an inspection by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation, revealing three high-priority violations.

The popular local breakfast and brunch spot, located in St. Lucie County at 7588 S Federal Highway and known for its home-cooked meals, holds a 4.4-star rating from 1,339 Google reviews.

Despite its popularity, the diner has faced some issues that required attention, but health inspectors did not deem it necessary to shut it down.

This is What Happened During the Inspection: On August 9, a routine food inspection was conducted, revealing a total of nine violations: 3 high-priority, 2 intermediate, and 4 basic. These findings prompted inspectors to require another review.

Among the high-priority violations, were unsuitable storage of raw animal foods over ready-to-eat items and inadequate temperature control for safety foods were noted. The presence of toxic substances stored near consumables was also highlighted, though corrected on-site.

Intermediate issues included expired employee training and unlabeled substances in the bar area, both of which were addressed immediately.

Basic violations ranged from equipment in disrepair to standing water in the cooler, some of which were resolved during the inspection.

Despite these recent setbacks, the Port Saint Lucie diner remains a beloved spot for locals, with patrons like Tina B praising the delicious breakfasts and vibrant service.

We really enjoyed our breakfasts they were delicious, hot and the service was great...It gave the room a fun vibe. Definitely will go back.

However, not all reviews are glowing, as some customers, like Tammy Albert, have expressed dissatisfaction with certain menu items.

Traditional eggs Benedict muffins were not toasted they used slices of cooked ham very thin awful a very small scoop of hash Browns never again

A follow-up inspection on Aug. 13 required further review.

As Grandpa's Diner navigates these challenges, it continues to be a focal point for both loyal diners and health inspectors in St. Lucie County.
