    China Dragon, a Chinese restaurant in Macclenny, Baker County, Florida, recently encountered several issues that need to be rectified following a Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation inspection.

    The establishment, which holds a 4.1-star rating from 265 Google reviews, was cited for 17 violations and required a follow-up inspection.

    A customer and local guide named Mary Giordano, shared on Google Reviews:

    This is the best Chinese food I have eaten in the eight years I have lived in FL. Sad that it is 2 1/2 hours away from my house. We have been coming once a week as we have been in the area for the past few months. The General chicken is outstanding!

    This is What The Inspection Revealed

    The inspection on August 14, 2024, revealed two high-priority, four intermediate, and eleven basic violations. While the restaurant wasn't required to close and remains in operation, these findings highlight areas needing quick improvement to maintain food safety and operational standards.

    Among the high-priority infractions, the inspector noted an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license and unsuitable storage of raw animal food. The inspector's note revealed that raw chicken was stored in a freezer over ready-to-eat vegetable dumplings.

    Intermediate violations included food-contact surfaces with food residue buildup and a lack of written procedures for handling bodily fluid incidents.

    Meanwhile, basic violations ranged from unsecured carbon dioxide tanks to improper storage of employee personal items in food preparation areas.

    The inspection also highlighted issues with food storage and cleanliness. State

    Structural concerns were also noted, including a ceiling not suitable for food preparation areas and damaged refrigeration equipment. The inspector found opened insulation in a reach-in freezer, potentially compromising food safety.

    China Dragon's management now must rectify these violations before the follow-up inspection, and locals in Macclenny will undoubtedly monitor the next review report.
