Florida Keys Lobster House, a popular steakhouse in Marathon, Monroe County, received 13 violations during a Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation inspection on August 27, 2024.

The establishment, known for its steaks and lobster tails, wasn't ordered to close but requires a follow-up inspection.

This is What Happened During The Inspection

The latest Florida Keys Lobster House inspection revealed three high-priority, two intermediate, and eight basic violations.

High-priority violations included nonexempt fish offered raw without "proper parasite destruction," a stop sale on raw tuna due to temperature abuse, and hot-held food at temperatures below the required degrees.

Meanwhile, intermediate violations involved a soiled can opener blade and unapproved renovations, including the conversion of a salad bar to a sushi station.

The inspector's note also revealed that basic violations ranged from mold in the ice machine to improper storage of ice buckets and garbage management issues.

Florida Keys Lobster House holds a 4.6-star rating from 3,979 Google reviews and a 4.4-star rating from 874 Yelp reviews. The restaurant offers a diverse menu catering to various tastes, with specialties in steaks from a stone grill and lobster tails.

A recent Google review by Charles Hertel praised the establishment:

"Amazing place. 5 stars on the meal, service and atmosphere. 4 stars on the date night. I consider myself a great third wheel but I wasn't feeling the same back with the couple."

Florida Keys Lobster House will now need to rectify these violations before the follow-up inspection.

Some issues, like reheating mushrooms to the proper temperature, were corrected on-site, showing a willingness to improve food safety practices, but management must address the remaining issues.
