Restoration project for Mount Carmel Centre resumes this week
GAYLORD — Two local firms have teamed up to begin the second phase of the restoration project for the Mount Carmel Centre on North Otsego Avenue in Gaylord. The Mount Carmel Centre was previously St. Mary Church, which was built in 1900. In an effort to preserve the building, the Mount Carmel Historical Group was founded and the organization purchased the building from the Diocese of Gaylord in 1985. It was placed in the Michigan Historical Register in 2006.
