Rock Valley Conference newcomer Monroe swept the boys and girls team championships at the conference track and field meet Friday in Whitewater.

The Cheesemakers claimed the girls team title by just four points ahead of Brodhead/Juda.

Two Cardinals girls took first in the 100 and 200 (Stella Arn in 12.42 and 25.81 seconds) and in the 400 and 800 (Kalena Riemer in 59.64 seconds and 2 minutes, 19.37 seconds).

Arn also kicked off Brodhead/Juda’s winning 400-meter dash foursome, winning with Addison Yates, Brenley Jones and Elliana Shank in 50.74.

Yates added a pair of wins to the Cardinals’ tally, as well, winning the 100 hurdles in 16.16 and the high jump by clearing 5 feet, 5 inches. She also was runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 16-4.5.

Onni Williams won twice for Brodhead/Juda in the throwing events, posting a winning shot put of 38 feet and a discus throw of 113-3.

Clinton grabbed a trio of event wins in the long distances. Cougars senior Paige Damman opened the meet by kicking off her team’s 3,200 relay win, along with Ava Mueller, Ella Logterman and Parker Kutz, in a time of 10:29.58, 21 seconds better than second-place Monroe.

Damman added 3 more miles to her meet total after winning both the 1,600 and 3,200 in times of 5:33.37 and 12:25.25.

In the boys meet, Monroe comfortably won the team title over Whitewater, and the Whippets were far ahead of third-place Evansville after winning five of the six non-relay, non-hurdle events on the track. The gap between the Blue Devils and fourth-place Edgerton, however, was just four points.

The Blue Devils had two event wins, including in the first race of the night, the 3,200 relay. Dillon Elliott, Nathan Scarmon, Walker Garetson and Noah Deml combined for a time of 8:28.14. Deml also took second in the 400 and fourth in the 800.

Evansville’s other win came in the discus with Tanner Zastoupil’s throw of 144 feet, 8 inches.

The Crimson Tide also had a pair of wins, also in a relay and a field event. Edgerton’s quartet of Fred Geiger-Kittel, Kyler Knauf, Austin Obermueller and Sergio Rosales won the 400 relay in 44.60 seconds, and Cole Langer’s long jump of 21-3.75 took the conference title.

Other area winners included Walworth Big Foot’s Kaden Rambatt in pole vault with a jump of 14 feet, 6 inches; Brodhead/Juda’s Gavin Pinnow with a high jump of 6-2; and Clinton’s Owen Douglas with a shot put of 50-6.5.
