After enduring a week of heat that rivals Texas, New Yorkers hope for a cooler week

New York City — From the "Big Apple has been baking all week" to "it's the City That Never Sleeps due to being too hot for sleeping," New Yorkers have heard all the jokes this week.

But five straight days of 90-plus temperatures is no laughing matter. “A heat wave can be more than just uncomfortable," warned Mayor Adams, "it can be deadly and life-threatening if you are not prepared."

Fortunately starting Monday, things should return to normal for this time of year. "We’re back to the mid to low 80s,” FOX meteorologist Cody Braud said.

At this point, New Yorkers are thrilled to hear about the weather returning to the 80s (that's the temperature, not the decade).

Due to the expected thunderstorms on Sunday, things could cool off abruptly starting next week.

In short, given that this is the first official weekend of the summer season, the hot weather seems, pardon, feels appropriate.
