Grand Central hopes a huge, new 400-seat restaurant will entice customers

New York City — When most tourists meet the Big Apple for the first time, they usually have a bucket list.

Along with seeing Lady Liberty and Times Square, Grand Central — the heart of NYC's railing system — also makes the list.

Racking in an annual 20 million visitors, it's easy to see why Grand Central is one of the world's ten most-visited tourist attractions.

When the pandemic hit, though, business slipped. As of this month, a new tenant has taken over the massive Grand Central space — hoping to reinvigorate dining options at one of the world's largest transit hubs.

Called "Grand Brasserie," the 400-seat restaurant has bars open daily until 2 a.m. (The entrance is at 89 East 42nd Street.)

“The menu will be a popular French format,” the new operator Rick Blatstein said.

Only time will tell if the well-designed, French format will appeal to New Yorkers.
