Kane County's Recycling Effort Helps Provide Bicycles to the Homeless
During its largest recycling event of the year, Kane County partnered with Hesed House in Aurora to collect bicycles. Hesed House is the second-largest homeless shelter in the state of Illinois and runs an all-volunteer bicycle ministry. The volunteers collect donated bikes, which are refurbished and given to guests, with bike repairs being completely free for all those they serve. This includes guests in the men’s shelter, women’s shelter, family shelter, and several permanent supportive housing programs in the community.
Child Recovered in Indiana After Dupage County Home Invasion
Aurora, IL – An 8-year-old child is safe after being abducted during a home invasion on Aurora’s east side, leading to the arrest of two men in Indiana. On Monday evening, Aurora Police and Firefighters responded to a home invasion report on the 2000 block of Cheshire Drive. According to the Aurora Police Department, two males forced their way into the home, injuring the homeowners, and abducted the child. The offenders were identified as the child’s father, uncle, and grandmother.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - A man is dead after he was pinned between a vehicle lift and a car he was working on, according to the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office. Around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Kurt’s Service Center, 1510 Cunningham St., Dennis Modloff, 55, was working alone under a Jeep.
