Cynthiana High School 70 year reunion
The walls of one of Cynthiana’s oldest and most beloved eateries, Biancke’s Restaurant, are decorated with the graduating class photos of the bygone Cynthiana High School. The years of these class photos go back to the early twentieth century and forward through the nineteen-sixties. It’s a bit of a time machine, really. And there, on Saturday, June 22, the past met the present at the school’s annual reunion.
Kentucky State University Awarded $7 Million Grant for Soilless Agriculture Research
Kentucky State University has been awarded a seven million dollar grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for a new AgTech research project. The project is titled “Driving AgTech Research and Education in Kentucky (DARE-KY)” and the goal is to support inclusive network building, impactful research, and workforce development for soilless food systems.
United States National Science Foundation Offered $7 Million Grant to Kentucky State University
Kentucky State University has earned the largest single grant in its history from the National Science Foundation: $7 million. The university stated Thursday that the award will be used for agriculture technology research and teaching, with a focus on improving nutrient management, food safety, and the sustainability of soil-less agriculture systems in Kentucky.
Abby Jackson hired as KHSAA Assistant Commissioner
The Kentucky High School Athletic Association introduced the newest addition to its staff on June 24 with the hiring of Assistant Commissioner Abby Jackson. “Abby brings a wealth of experience in coaching, student services, and athletics administration to the staff as we head into this next phase of championship expansion and continued service to our member schools and students who are enrolled in them,” said KHSAA Commissioner Julian Tackett. “We were presented with a deep pool of outstanding applicants who did a fantastic job during the interview process, and the existing senior leadership team gleaned a lot from those extended sessions. In the end, Abby certainly impressed our leadership team in her interview sessions and seems an ideal fit for our staff.”
