First responders revived a 3-year-old girl who was submerged underwater for more than three minutes in an above-ground pool Sunday afternoon, according to the Georgetown police and fire departments.

At about 4:56 p.m., first responders arrived at a home on North Street in Georgetown following reports that a 3-year-old was submerged underwater for more than three minutes.

Off-duty Georgetown and Newbury firefighters arrived first at the scene and found the child removed from the pool but unresponsive. The firefighters performed CPR and restored the child’s pulse and breathing.

On-duty Georgetown police and fire arrived shortly after to render care. The child was taken by Georgetown Fire with assistance from Atlantic and Newbury paramedics to Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport.

The child was then transferred to a medical helicopter, where she was flown to a Boston hospital for further treatment.

Georgetown fire and police departments are investigating the incident.

There were no further updates as of Monday morning.
